Many of you who have been ardent followers or readers of MaryMoh's ~ 'Keep learning keep smiling' blog would have known that I met up with her in London, Westfield recently. I was indeed very excited when she confirmed that she was available for a meet up, a 'blind' date so to speak. Oh, not totally 'blind' because I've a vague idea of how she looks like from her picture in her profile but she doesn't have a clue about me. How interesting! I told her that we'll be playing 'hide and seek'!
I said that I'll definitely be the first one to spot her but she replied she'll arrive early and it won't be too difficult to spot Asians with black hair! I was early too and initially I couldn't find the 'venue' of our meeting place as Westfield had other entrances and it was huge. Somehow I managed and as I was walking, from a distance I spotted an Asian petite lady walking towards my direction, bag in hand and her signature hairstyle ...... ah, it's her! I walked up to her and asked ..... MaryMoh? She stopped, turned round and we laughed! She's such a nice, friendly and warm person, very comfortable to talk to and my family took an instant liking to her, and to my girls, she's sweet Aunty Mary!
Interior of Westfield...... part of it.
She's so kind to get me a gift ........Boat shaped silicone ovenware. Also baked me some yummy shortbread biscuits which we had for tea later in the hotel. Very thoughtful of her!
We sat down for tea and coffee and chatted like we've known each other for umpteen years, although we just met in cyberspace not too long ago through blogging. Blogging has indeed opened up a new phase in my life and I've got to make so many friends and learn so many new recipes be it on baking or cooking.
We adjourned for lunch at this Jamie Oliver's Italian restaurant which is just outside of the Westfield shopping complex.
Our lunch spread and now we see it one by one .......
Beef Steak
Pasta .... this spaghetti is hollow, reminds me of the 'Tung Sum Fun' that my mum used to prepare for us whenever we were sick, during our childhood. But that was white in colour and I think it's still available now.
Starter which we all shared ........... Baked mushroom with cheese.
Pasta with truffles
MaryMoh's order .... Courgette (Zucchini) fritters with hummus dip. She ate so little, no wonder she's so petite!
Compared to hers, mine was humongous ...... Baked Seabass with couscous. My first taste of couscous, resembles our rice. There's no cheese in mine, just olive oil.......yummy!
Dessert ..... Their special Tiramisu. Classic Italian coffee flavoured trifle with mascarpone and cheese.
It looked soggy and somewhat like sliced roast pork! To me, there's not much of coffee flavour.
Girl making pasta which she later shaped up and also stored some in boxes.
Oh, looking at these pasta reminds me that you should go to MaryMoh's blog to view her very original recipes like how to make condense milk, homemade noodles and she can really cut up those noodles straight and neat .... by hand!
It was so kind of her to slot in some time for me as she had to board a flight back to Aberdeen that night. After lunch we parted and later in the night my hubby and I went for this live musical @ the 'Prince of Wales' theatre....
Mama Mia ..... the cast was magnificiant and we really truly enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
I have read about this meet-up the other day on Mary's blog. :-))
